I have no doubt that it is a part of the destiny of the human race, in its gradual improvement, to leave off eating animals, as surely as the savage tribes have left off eating each other when they came in contact with the more civilized.
~Henry David Thoreau
I am just a guy living in the midwest with a wife and four cats, two of which we took in after their owner passed away. It’s been my experience that ALL ANIMALS have a certain individuality and intelligence, and I’ve definitely seen that they can experience pain just like anyone of us can, the passing of two of my previous cats had a profound effect on me.
But I couldn’t quite get myself to change my diet yet. It has always been a part of life, that animals eat one another, it’s just a part of nature. But modern factory farms are nowhere near natural, they are cruel and inhumane. And after I saw “Glass Walls” I decided to do my part to end this practice, I gave up eating meat immediately and made it known on the social networks.
This website and social media campaign are my attempts to spread a bit of compassion throughout the world, as humble as they might be. The majority of people do not want to change and are put off by animal activists. But by placing posts and tweets around lunch time my hope is that people will at least THINK about where their food came from, while not totally alienating ones-self from the majority. I know things will not change overnight so those of us will have to settle for small victories One Day at A Time.
