While the Denver Broncos prepare for the big game this weekend, we want to wish our friend Chris Harris Jr. the best for Super Bowl 50! He very recently took on the issue of shivering “backyard dogs” by toughing it out in the frigid outdoors for as long as he could in order to show how lonely, cold, and desperate neglected dogs are during the winter months.
As this football season wraps up on Sunday and people begin to think about the warmer weather of spring and summer, we’re reminded of another NFL friend of ours, Tyrann Mathieu, who made quite a mark while making the always-important point that hot cars are no place for dogs.
We are forever grateful for those two, who covered the dangers of weather extremes for suffering “outdoor dogs.”
But we can’t forget some of the other generous NFL players who have lent their voices, faces, or tattoos to PETA’s work for animals—like Tony Gonzalez, Terrell Suggs, Le’Veon Bell, Antoine Bethea, Brandon Flowers, Jarvis Landry, and Stevie Johnson, to name just a few!
What You Can Do
Help protect animals from extremes in temperature through PETA’s “Angels for Animals” program, a unique outreach project in which PETA staffers and volunteers actively seek out vulnerable animals on a daily basis and provide them with food, water, shelter, toys, treats, spay/neuter surgeries, emergency veterinary care, and more.
