A recent article in Tech Crunch highlights the wide variety of tech startups that are eschewing meat and dairy and working to produce delicious foods without animals.
Hampton Creek Foods offers Just Mayo, an innovative new product that replicates the taste and texture of traditional mayo. Beyond Meat makes delicious plant-based burger patties that pack just as much protein and iron as their meaty counterparts as well as tons of omegas and antioxidants. And Impossible Foods creates vegan meat products, including cheeseburgers, from vegetables.
As companies like these are working to make delicious alternatives to animal products, others are working to create real milk and meat in labs.
Companies like Muufri, a startup aimed at making plant-based milk that is nearly identical to dairy, and Modern Meadow, a startup focused on culturing meat from cells in a lab, promise to recreate so many of the foods we love. Modern Meadow even anticipates that cultured meat products will hit the market within five to 10 years.
Luckily, consumers don’t have to wait for these products to be developed or experiments to be finalized to start saving the environment and helping animals. Going vegetarian has never been easier with so many delicious meat alternatives already on the market.
